The exhibition traces the history of assemblage and the potential of recycling from Kurt Schwitters’ pioneering work, to the artists who have been articulating this practice through the 80s and until today. It does not only involve the idea of bringing new sense to everyday life material, but also investigates the relationship these artists express with the adopted objects.

The third edition of the Printemps des Laboratoires will be devoted to exploring how art relates to the ‘polis’, in opposition to instituted powers. From the emergence of avant-garde movements in the nineteenth century to artists’ engagement in more recent protest and social revolt movements, art has been renewing its strategies and its forms of opposition.

“Equality Float” is an allegory of the community, highlighting both its ills and their remedies; a reflection on the notions of equality / inequality. It is a theme that the artist explores through the interaction of opposites, of political and philosophical essays (Spinoza, Deleuze, Bataille, Gramsci).
