Learn more In this new series, the artist continues her experimentation with the image, inscribing within it an alternative temporality, that of painting, and deepens the self-portrait by weaving together disappearance and presence, proximity and erasure. Between appearance and disappearance, My-Lan Hoang-Thuy’s practice unsettles our relationship to the image by pairing her instantaneous captures with a second temporality: that of painting. Disturbing the atmosphere, she lends to the silent context of her images the force of an emotion, of a gesture to be deciphered.
