Juan Uslé draws inspiration from the meteorological phenomenon of the Southern Wind (Viento Sur), specific to his Spanish region of Cantabria, using the disruption of sensations it induces to unfold a series of abstract paintings. In these layered constructions, various intensities shape the journey of the mind. Far from losing itself in obscure tranquility, his nuances and rhythm breaks multiply accidents to thwart any decorative temptation and transform the appearance of ornamentation into a forest of signs to be interpreted and embraced.
Navigating between modernism and abstraction, each composition invents its own harmonic rule to make color resonate and convey the beating of the air against a pupil that, as a result, modulates what it senses in these raw landscapes.
